I've been looking for inspiration to re-do my bedroom, and came across a great blog called The Shabby Chic Cottage. There I found a link to my perfect perfect perfect kitchen. I LOVE IT!
Granted, it is a little girly, but there's a pink refrigerator! Honestly, I can see myself at the stove in a polkadot dress and pearls.
It's just so lovely. I'm going to go drool some more.

Mystery Relatives Abound
In my collection of photos, I have quite a few that are wedding photos. Some of the relatives I know, but many are mystery relatives such as the ones below.
I love love love the bridesmaids dress on the right hand side. It's GORGEOUS! And TWIRLY! So beautiful!

Sundays are for sleeping
Well, Sunday isn't much of a day of rest here! There's been laundry, bread baking, telling the dog to stop barking and refereeing for two six year old girls that bicker like they are the oldest of old ladies!
In an effort to keep things simple and easy so I can accomplish something today, I threw together the quintessential one pot meal. I'm practicing my spatchcocking technique for Thanksgiving on this little chicken. Add some onions, carrots, green beans, olive oil, salt and pepper. Throw it all on a rimmed baking sheet and put it in the oven to cook.
What could be easier?
I'll let you know how it comes out later!

The case of the missing pants.
Am I the only one that is frightened by the return of stirrup pants?

Happy Friday!
Just to give you a bounce in your step today,
I thought I would show you some lovely pictures.
There was a time in the early 90's when my parents
somehow talked my sister and I into trying square dancing.
We went for lessons, went to dances on Saturday night.
It was quite a bit of fun!
And hey, how many people can say that they square danced
and dressed up as real honest to goodness square dancers?
I'm a mystery, I know.
And I like to reveal the layers of my onion
one at a time to you, dear readers!
For some strange reason I can't find
any pictures of me in authentic square dance attire.
Aww, shucks!
But lucky for you, I did find these two little gems
in my treasure trove of pictures!
Gotta love my parents! Enjoy and Happy Friday!

What a treat!
Today's post would not be possible without one of my bestest friend's Mom! A great big Thank You to Mrs. C for this little gem!
Today we'll be taking an look back at vintage knitting!
HELLO! What could be better?
Oh, my heart skipped a beat when I saw this pattern book. It combines two of my very favorite things - VINTAGE and KNITTING!
I couldn't find a date anywhere in this pattern book, but I'm guessing early 1960's.
I'd like to point out the price on the cover. SEVENTY FIVE CENTS! Wow! Now-a-days you can generally pay about $5 per pattern.
These garments are all knit out of mohair. Now, I don't know too much about mohair, but I did knit a scarf out of a mohair/silk blend yarn. I love the scarf, it's beautiful, luxurious, soft, fuzzy... and... itchy as all get out. I have to wear it over a shirt, and not against bare skin.
So looking at these pictures really gives me the itchies!!
Then I look at the make up and that gives me a little bit of the willies! I have to admit I've never worn false eyelashes, but I think I might have to give them a try next time I'm feeling dramatic!

Oh, the hair! So great. I love it.

Who doesn't want a mohair lounge robe? This pattern is classic!

Hello. Is someone out there? I'm stuck. Please help me.

Hmmm.. I can't wait for this photo shoot to be over. I have to pee. My arm is tired. I'll hook my thumb into my belt so it won't droop.

Hey Sally! What are you doing after this? Wanna get a drink by the pool?

Linda, wait til you hear what Ted did to me last night....
Wow! Quite a difference. What do you think about that?

Thank you and Good Day, Sir.
Business First. I'd like to congratulate Andrea for winning my movie quote challenge from the other day! French Kiss was correct. One of my favorite sappy movies of all time. So much so, that I have somehow acquired two copies of the movie on DVD and would love to give Andrea one if she doesn't already own the movie!
See, my dear readers! This is why you need to leave a comment
once in a while, you might win something! ha!
Whilst I was busy with my daily clean-myself-up routine,
I wrote an entire blog post in my head. Someone really needs
to figure out a shower recording device! I bet we could solve
the worlds problems just listening to peoples ideas
while they are showering!
In my head, I talked about politics and how much
I really can't stand people posting their political views on Facebook.
That's not the forum for it people! You are not going to change
this left-of-center girl's mind! Go over to CNN.com or the
Huffington Post and debate your thoughts there.
Write a letter to your Senator or Congressperson.
VOTE for God's sake, so you can have your views
represented in Washington.
I also went on and on in my head about religion.
I really do welcome a good debate about the bible and religious history.
It's fascinating, and I think I am open minded enough
to welcome all views.
Then there was a diatribe in my head about Christianity
and being a Republican vs. Democrat. I'll spare you.
This all sounded much more cohesive and
well thought out in the shower!
Some probably say I am too open minded.
I swear I was born that way.
I can remember being very young asserting my feminist view point.
Girls ARE just as good as boys, damnit.
We can do anything they can do.
A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G.
Maybe this is why I empathize with the downtrodden
and repressed so much. I too have been discriminated
against, so I know what it feels like.
It doesn't feel good, people!
Phew!! Where did that come from?
Guess I've been saving it up for a while!
At any rate.
I've been scanning some more photos and wanted to share this one.
It is my maternal grandfather's family, 1930 something or other.
My grandfather is one of the young boys standing in the back row.
I'm not sure which one because they both look like they could be him!
This was taken to remember my grandfather's brother's wedding.
I'd like to say thank you to all the men and woman that are serving or have served our country in the armed forces. I do not take my freedom lightly. I recognize that because of your sacrafice and the sacrafices your families make, I have the right to speak my mind and live this life I am living.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
A thousand times, Thank you.
